Few things have been going on

First off, my puppy got Parvo, which is a very, very serious disease. When I was young I lost a puppy to Parvo, so of course when Sookie came down sick with it I panicked! First day she got sick and started refusing water and throwing up like crazy, non-stop, I knew something was wrong. The first vet kept her overnight and told me nothing was wrong with her, that she just had an upset tummy. And charged me what amounts to my rent money. He had given her a shot and IV as I requested, and sent her home. Next day she got sick all over again, and we chose a different Vet who gave her an injection of fluids under the skin that would absorb and she wouldnt have to have an IV or wear a cone on her head again. ( Sookie the Space Cadet ) But after about 5 days of worry and forced liquids, she finally started walking around on her own again, and eating some foods.
I have her on a new dog food now, something for sensitive stomachs because Parvo ate away at the stomach lining pretty bad. It's called Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul - Cheaper than Hills and way, way better. She also got new toys because the other ones were old and had been contaminated with Parvo. She's loving the new toys! Oh, and we're not going to the first vet anymore.


Also, I started my new job!! I love working with books all day :)
It helps because I spend/spent so much time in the bookstore already, now I know where everything is :)

On the 12th we will have been in our apartment for one whole month!

It's very nice, Im enjoying it here, it's not too noisy and its a good size for what we are paying! Very glad we found it :)

Lesson Learned!!!

What I learned today is:

Do NOT bake Sculpty at 450 degress F. Your pieces will turn into charcoal!!!!

So yes, I learned my lesson of the day, I accidentally put the oven at 450 because i -thought- that was what I used last time, I was very, /very/ wrong! Yeah, it was supposed to be 275 degrees F. The pieces were only in for 15 minutes, but man are they deformed! They expanded and grew 3 times their size and are kinda squishy, and very dark brown and black :P

Not exactly what I was going for, but I'm just glad it was some smaller pieces that I was going to add to larger pieces, rather than whole dragon piece - her wouldn't have had room to expand!

Maybe I can salvage them....


*goes and starts squishing new sculpty*

My gosh, why does summer have to be so bloody hot?


Right now I'm in the midst of job hunting, mostly in my own field. I've been working a bit on things around here, but the heat makes everything miserable. The clay is too soft in heat especially. Texas isn't clay working friendly. I've been taking more pictures of the bebeh now that I have found my camera again, maybe those can be posted.

I'm also working on my own poetry collection, Im not sure I want to post them here or not, they are more for my own reflection and expression. Maybe someday I shall post.

Anywho - Wrapped up in family and friends, apartment hunting, job hunting, and peeking into wedding plans slightly. Excitement!

OOOH! I can't wait til the end of the month!! Stephanie will be back from Australia! Yay!


Yes yes, completely random and flighty journal but oh well.

A bit about me-

Hello! My name is Sharon and I am 22 years old. I am a "struggling" artist , though right now everything's at a standstill. I have Choroidal Neovascular Membrane Disease (CNVM)

When I was 19 I was diagnosed with CNVM in my left eye. These past 6 months my right eye started showing signs of the same sort and it has now affected me in both eyes. This disease is not something that usually occurs in younger people, it's generally an age related disease that shows up in much, much older people. At the moment I am a student and am perusing an art degree but this has become increasingly difficult and I might have to come back and finish it at a later time, hopefully.

I try my best to keep it together, and though my schooling has suffered.. I have really come to appreciate lots more things in life. I appreciate my friends and family so much more now than I did when I was 18. I know happiness is something that I want first and foremost.

On another note, When I do leave school I plan on trying to work on art from home for myself and for others; not for grades but for pleasure :)
